Whakatāne will hold its fourth Local Wild Food Challenge on the 2 February 2019.

The challenge will be held at Mahy Reserve in Ōhope, right on the shore of New Zealand’s ‘Most Loved Beach’. The event has a Wild Food Festival on the outskirts of the challenge and spectators can look forward to a day of demonstrations including sustainability, paddock to plate along with local food stalls, live entertainment and a mystery box challenge, while the competitors create their own unique wild food dishes.

Enjoy your food and refreshments in the beer garden under the pohutukawa trees as you listen to the live entertainment and take in the view or the ocean and native bush around you.
